The "rescue" half of "Search & Rescue", Daisy is the second member of Salamander's Blue Team. An Android manufactured by United Robotics Corporation, Daisy uses her robust frame and limitless strength to move distressed starfarers to the safety of the Tardigrade as soon as they're located by her counterpart, Firefly. Daisy has a very bold personality, rarely speaking in doubt or uncertainty and demonstrating an unflappable confidence in a positive outcome for any situation. "Come, friend, your story does not end here" is the kind of thing she'll say at a rescue site before hoisting you up onto her shoulder and carrying you out of harm's way. It can be a lot to take in when her seven-and-a-half foot tall frame steps into your dark hour, but when she lifts you gently into her huge arms, her cushions laced with thermal mesh, a sense of calm may overcome you. Everything's going to be alright.

Daisy hails from United's Forestry line of hardware. Originally build for the lumber industry, Daisy's frame is designed to lift and carry heavy timber. Her limbs are built extra-thick to support carrying that weight, with extra-sturdy joints at her elbows and knees. Her hip and shoulder cladding was originally curved to support the shape of large timber logs, and the insides of her forearms have a corresponding curve to help hold that timber in place. The future isn't all glass and steel, wood is still a valuable commodity and offworld lumbering is a lucrative industry, but like all Androids Daisy has the gift of sentience and the right to choose her own path through the Sol system. Fortunately for her former employers, United continues manufacturing Androids for heavy industry, even after their older production grow weary of the jobs and move on with their lives. And fortunately for Daisy, United droids have very practical skillsets with applications outside their intended industries.

As a rescue worker Daisy has had a couple modifications made to her chassis to facilitate the hauling of squishy space people instead of the usual round logs of tree. She's had soft padding installed at her carry points, with thermal meshes underneath to keep them comfortably warm in the bitter cold of space. Handlebars have been mounted to her shoulder cladding panels to allow a starfarer to hang on of their own accord, and belts on her hip cladding let her mount starfarers securely, giving her a very high capacity for moving people in one trip. Thermal vents have been installed on the sides of her helmet to blow warm air onto her shoulder-carry spaces, and her whole chassis has been given a colorful paintjob to simulate wearing a big wooly winter coat, to help her match the uniform of her crewmates. She has a Neptunian integridometer mounted to her helmet, allowing her to illuminate areas and visually confirm stress points in areas- it's helpful to be able to see terrain with poor structural integrity when you are a very heavy pillar of metal. All-in-all she's well-equipped for her role on the Salamander team, and she's happy to share her skills in this capacity.

While Red Team manages operations in getting the Tardigrade to an emergency site quickly, Blue Team are the first to dispatch from the ship, locate and secure the starfarers in a distressing situation. Daisy and Firefly pair well together- where Firefly is light and floaty, able to navigate tight spaces with ease, Daisy's strength allows her to secure a path through those spaces on the way back to their ship. Where Firefly is a chipper optimist, Daisy arrives with a stoic sense of certainty that gives absolute weight to Firefly's promises of safety. On the route back Firefly can project their atmospheric containment bubble to create a breathable sphere around Daisy and her cargo, enabling the pair to move starfarers through the void of space, a handy combination of skills when arriving at a shipwreck with only small pockets of oxygen on board. Daisy tends to be a favorite among people rescued by the Salamander crew- Kenji often jokes about The Daisy Effect, when people are lifted up and cradled so effortlessly, nestled against her soft heated padding, assured that everything is gonna be alright. Daisy doesn't understand Kenji's implications, she is just out there doing her job.

Salamander Search & Rescue receive a lot of thank-you messages from people who have benefitted from their services- space is a dangerous place and even a completely in-control rescue operation can be seen as a close call, so it's natural for people to be grateful for the services of a search and rescue team. Daisy in particular tends to be a specific recipient of those thank-you messages. She always insists it was a team effort; Kenji points out, that's The Daisy Effect for you.<
