Lira is a Terran adventurer and a member of the greater ars-arcanum community, currently offering sorcerous services out of a little shop in Titan Garden's alluring E-District. Cunning and scrappy, Lira carries an untamed energy about her, living her fullest possible life with the least possible compromise- you know the vibe. She hitched a ride out to Titan and opened up a little magic shop, but she's not explicitly a magicweaver herself, she instead is the inheritor of a magical relic that has crossed paths with her family line generations ago- she's more into finding the adventures to bring her relic along on and leaves much of the magic to her companion, Cel. How does that work? Well, let's take a little trip into the history books!
Space may be a desert for magic, but it's out there. Just like a planet's atmosphere, arcane wellspring energy eventually leaks into space, scattering throughout the Sol system and potentially even beyond. Terra has been shedding its flavor of arcane energies for over four billion years, and satellites built by the Terran magic academies have detected trace amounts even beyond Pluto's orbit, deep into the Oort cloud. Just like the average hydrogen atom per cubic meter of space, the wellspring energy just doesn't exist in sufficient quantities for it to be of any use to the typical starfaring magician on its own. Trinkets saturated in the wellspring energy provide a workaround, but the energies drain from these with use, and they don't replenish.
Subspace-meddling notwithstanding, there is at least one known mostly-safe workaround to this limitation! Enchanted relics, created from sophisticated techniques by the finest artificers of ancient Terra, are magical sponges that actively draw wellspring energy into themselves, supercharging their magical potential in the hands of a wielder. On Terra, these rare (and expensive) objects can magnify the wellspring energy by multiple times over, making them highly sought after by magicians as a means to expand one's talents when training and study are no longer viable paths for improvement. This absorption process just so happens to also provide an advantage to these constructed relics above other totems and baubles in space--given enough time, they can absorb arcane energy from sparse regions of Sol. It's a slow process, and they're often running on fumes compared to their Terra-bound counterparts, but thrifty sorcerers are able to really stretch these limited powers to great lengths.
During the rise and fall of the Industrial Magic era in ancient Terran history, a variety of these relics were produced, each with different powers and purpose. Phones and datapads are the multi-purpose tools of choice for the modern era, but during the Industrial Magic age, a Silvallan Sphere served that niche as a multipurpose assistant. Worn as a necklace, these relics contained a consciousness that could answer queries and remember important information as their most basic functions. They can emit a mist, acting like a precursor to an Accra droid's hardlight projection, creating shapes and even a representative body out of glowing smoke. Most importantly, each Silvallan Sphere had a particular talent associated with it--swordfighting, archery, wizardry, fishing, and so on--which could be infused into the relic's wearer, making them an instant expert in whatever field it is. All for the low, low price of occasional magical corruption!
Those Silvallan Spheres aren't for sale, though. Falling under the 'artificial sentient' rule that android manufacturers must obey, relics with observable consciousness are given leeway to make their own destiny. They already were known to choose who they worked with as they don't have much autonomy on their own anyway, but now they had legal precedent to determine their own fates. Most of these enchanted relics vanished after the Industrial Magic age, and encountering anything like a Silvallan Sphere is rare enough on Terra, rarer in space.
That's a lot of backstory for our little green orb. The Celadon Sphere--or Cel, for short--had long held a fascination for astronomy, so during the dawn of interplanetary travel, they left Terra and never returned. On Terra, Cel's arcane powers can generate hardlight representations of creatures, from horses to housecats, as well as an arsenal of weaponry for a squad of soldiers. In space, Cel's abilities is far more limited, but a single stable photonic sword isn't out of the question.
With these limitations to their autonomy, Celadon has to travel with others to explore further into space at anything more than a snail's pace--fully charged, their mist-form can carry their own relic without any problem, but when depleted, this form would fit in the palm of one's hand, and the relic becomes an immovable anchor. On Mars, Cel crossed paths with Lira, a fellow traveler whose distant ancestor was well known in the enchanted relic world. Lira wasn't much of a magician herself, but she had the spirit of an explorer, much like Celadon. So with her new green magic necklace, Lira set out to travel further from Terra to see how far the duo could go, utilizing their shared talents (mostly Cel's arcane talents) for odd jobs and handiwork to afford a trip to Jupiter.
Credits became scarce by the time they were approaching Saturn, but Lira had heard all about the magicians traveling through the interplanetary hub on Titan, and she saw an opportunity to make some cash to fuel eventual passage to Caelus and Neptune. Over in the E-District, Lira set up a shop named the Mystic Faire, which on the surface sells a variety of novelty magic tricks (FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY) and replica weapons (FOR DISPLAY ONLY) with a cheesy medieval vibe to the decor. But for magicians in the know, the Mystic Faire offers something far more valuable: Celadon can transfer their stored wellspring energy to recharge their depleted Terran objects, even supercharge them for the right price! Sorcerers can infuse this energy into their familiars in order to replenish their reserves and maintain their physical forms- a particularly surly one occasionally shows up at the Mystic Faire unaccompanied by a spellweaver, asking for "a shot of the good stuff". On Titan, Celadon can absorb enough magic to charge three trinkets a week, or one supercharge; there's a waitlist and it's filling up fast.
The two are also available for other small jobs with a magic touch, or some sleight of hand for birthday parties and corporate events, but always come as a package deal. In a roundabout way they've come to meet the crew of the Jackrabbit II, the team taking a shine to Lira and Cel. To help keep her paid and stable, the Red Raven crew occasionally hire Lira and Cel on as contractors when they have an expedition planned to find and salvage a particularly large shipwreck; the adventure-hearted woman and her magic relic offer a unique skillset that comes in handy when exploring the remains of a forgotten starship. Being friendly with a private starship crew has its perks as well, especially when you've got the kind of wanderlust that Lira has. Commercial flights are convenient but they can be expensive and somewhat limited in where they'll take you, but having friends who own their own space boat? Well, with friends like that you could go anywhere! It's win-win, baby!
