Stardiver is a mid-sized Steelframe belonging to Zan Toros, freelance salvage operator. It is currently docked in the hangar of the Rusty Rabbit "Second Chance" Recycling Company, located in the south dockyards of Titan Garden, just down the way from Red Raven Towing & Salvage. Stardiver is a heavily-customized Steelframe based off an old United Robotics Freelancer-class chassis, with parts from other makes and models bolted on wherever they're needed or convenient, and even has a few armored plates woven by friendly Andromedan craftsbugs. It sports a standard array of floodlights and forcefield projectors, but has also been enhanced with an extra-strength forcefield projector mounted to its forearm, allowing it to project a limited-range but high-density rectangle of energy in front of itself, a bit like an on-demand tower shield. A row of standard-unit measuring notches are etched onto its other forearm, which enable Stardiver's pilot to easily gauge and mark shipwreck bulkhead without needing to carry an additional tool- it's old-fashioned but it works. Its cranial sensor array has the standard United thermal, ultraviolet and radiation detection packages, but Zan has added additional hardware to enable precise motion-tracking and military "IFF" target identification, to better keep track of whatever creepy-crawlies might be hiding in a salvage job. An integrated radio receiver allows Stardiver to pick up common broadcast frequencies and pipe radio music directly into its cockpit- salvage can be taxing, so Zan likes to flip on the FM radio receiver and catch the S.L.U.D.G.E. Network, The Undertow, or the latest Starbeat Satellite single while they're on the sticks, whistling along while they work.

There are two striking details about Stardiver that make it stand out from other Steelframes currently in operation. The first and most noticeable is its auxillary set of arms. Affixed to the rear of Stardiver's chassis is a dedicated engine powering a pair of large, high-torque arms capable of lifting, pulling, carrying and rending whatever obstruction needs that extra bit of elbow grease. The hands on these power arms feature fewer, larger fingers that have sharp prybar-like wedges at their fingertips, allowing them to easily press between doors or armor panels and get a good grip to pry them apart. The engine output on this back-mounted unit can be redirected into a set of large thrusters, allowing Stardiver to travel forward at high speeds; Stardiver lacks the glider attach points that a Steelframe like Jackal has, so when it deploys to a job site it either needs to be airdropped in from a carrier ship or it needs to rocket in under its own power. If Stardiver is in trouble this back unit can be detached to shed weight and utilize a secondary set of emergency boosters underneath its large tarp-like cloak, burning its primary power source to boost a more nimble and agile version of itself. The back unit attaches through a hole in the back of the tarp, and while most people assume the tarp is there to keep its primary and auxiliary pairs of arms from getting entangled, the truth is it was there when Zan escaped from the Void Corsairs and they think it makes their Steelframe look cool.

In addition to these powerful utility arms, Stardiver carries a very large pryhammer with it when it's on a salvage job. A simple and uncomplicated tool, the pryhammer has a number of useful features- primarily, it has a large mallet face which can be used to direct a tremendous amount of kinetic force wherever its pilot feels a bit of applied percussion would be useful. Mounted on either side of the mallet head are a pair of small boosters which can be ignited to give the mallet an extra jolt of momentum when it's swinging in a tight space- these are prone to getting damaged or knocked off if it swings into a particularly messy job, but the nice thing about a mallet is it still works the same without them. On the rear of the mallet head is a sharp prybar, similar to its utility arm fingertips, except that it benefits from being mounted on the end of the hammer shaft so it can pry salvage apart with a lot more leverage. A hook on the pommel end allows Stardiver to reach and pull drifting pieces of space junk easily, holding on to the ring on the mallet head in order to give itself the most reach- this is particularly useful when sifting, sorting or organizing debris floating in space, but it can also be used to pull down unsafe or unstable overhead structures in gravity-enabled job sites. Beneath the mallet head is a small axe wedge, which can take advantage of the inertia generated by the weight of the hammer to chop mineral or organic matter like a woodsplitter. The pryhammer is a perfect low-tech tool for breaking down and collecting salvage, but it can also double as a close-range weapon when aggressive xenofauna or a hostile Steelframe want to give Stardiver a hard time. Zan is a capable pilot and is able to cycle controls between two sets of arms easily, taking full advantage of their Steelframe's array of tools to make sure a job is complete as quick and safely as possible.

These days, Stardiver serves as an independent-but-hireable Steelframe recovering salvage from wrecks discovered in the Outer Belt. A mid-sized Steelframe can fit in many starships' cargo holds, often sitting or kneeling, and deploy into a job site at full statue; Rusty Rabbit operates a small space truck to and from a wreck site, where Zan will deploy Stardiver and load salvage directly into the truck to bring back to Titan later- an improvement from the old container days in the Inner Belt. They particularly like contracting with Red Raven because the Jackrabbit II's top-mounted cargo hold door means Stardiver can sit in the hold in transit to a job site and then stand upright when the hatch is open, hopping out the top rather than needing to shimmy out the side. It's good work wherever they can get it, as most goings-on in space can benefit from an easy-going attitude and an extra-large pair of hands.

As an independent salvage operator, Zan keeps an eye on the Catch of the Day TV program, looking out for reports of bounty activity around the crew of a ship called the Coelacanth. Both Neptunian Skyguard and Quasar Galactic personnel have experienced an uptick in hostilities from an old Terran warship while in the course of their duties, and this has produced fresh wreckage sites similar to encounters between the Armadillo and the Terran Star Navy back in the Inner World Terraforming Conflict days. It's a familiar tune, and now that Zan and Stardiver are back in the Sol system from their Andromedan detour, they can get back to following conflicts and upcycling the bones of the imperial dead. Vulture salvage is grim work, but there are few hands better suited to it than those of a Steelframe pilot.
