Zumiel & Zunara

Zumiel and Zunara, aka Slice and Dice, are a brother-sister pair of Callistans who can frequently be found crashing in whatever space the Ring City Wreckers are currently using as a hideout. While they look basically the same, they can be easily distinguished by their personalities: Zumiel, the brother, likes to put on a tough-guy front, often trying to bolster his Callistan stature with a mean mug and a stoic attitude that fit like a cheap Tricker Tree rental costume. Zunara, the sister, has a hee-hee sort of goofball vibe to her that does not fully hide the fact she knows how much bigger, faster and stronger Callistans are than other organic species. The two of them are often the ones who have to settle the fights Paulie keeps starting with other crews, which could be a little annoying for the rest of the Wreckers, but the truth is Zumiel and Zunara like a good brawl. You're never gonna get one without the other, and two scrappy young Callistans without any work or school to tie up their schedules is a lot of fight to be asking for- they're a big reason Paulie and his hollow bones have never actually needed a real trip to Titan General Hospital. Whatever goes down, for whatever reason, no matter who started it, Zumiel and Zunara have their friends' backs.

Alongside Regina and Paulie, Zumiel and Zunara are the other two founding members of the Ring City Wreckers. Despite their troublemaking tendencies, the pair were honor roll students at PS-21, a fact that gave them a lot of leeway from administration after they'd get pulled into the office for settling fights with other kids. They met their friends when they noticed people were hanging out in the art room when there wasn't an art class, and came through to check it out themselves, picking at the art supplies and playing along with the word-writing games their new friends were sketching up together. They loved to tell everyone else at PS-21 that they were actually secretly Callistan royalty, direct descendants of Karin, the warrior princess depicted in Callistan astrology- and that's why they wind up in so many fights- and they ran away from Callisto to live a normal life on Titan; the pair don't seem to have parents on Titan and they don't seem to have a need to work for money, they seem to do what they want and the details work themselves out somehow. Maybe they really are runaway royals? Who's to say? Whatever the case, they got good grades and don't feel compelled to do anything more, they don't hit anyone up for mony and seem entirely self-sufficient somehow. They've been like that ever since.

Starfarers can see the tags Slice and Dice go up all around Titan Garden, these are Zumiel and Zunara's handles, respectively. Slice's writing style is distinct in that he like to compress and stack his letters in non-linear ways, letting them overlap and mush into one bigger shape, and then apply a second layer on top of that for emphasis. He calls his process the "Tungsten Two-Step" but no one has ever been able to get him to explain why. The bottom layer of Slice's tags usually have some kind of texture or embellishment to help signify the structure of his letters within the big pile-up of his designs, and the top layer is always some kind of sharp contrasting color meant to stand out from the base and emphasize the theme of the piece. Best anyone can figure is because there's two parts to his tags, that's why it's a "two-step," but no one knows where the Tungsten comes from. Dice's style is distinct from Slice, she prefers to work in big round comic-book shapes with big bold outlines. Where Slice's compositions tend to build on layers of flat shapes, Dice loves to incorporate three-dimensionality into her designs. She likes to tease Paulie that he's going to school to learn to copy the shapes she figured out on her own; Paulie gets his feathers ruffled over this and it's always real funny when it happens, because everyone knows who is always pulling who out of the fights he's always starting when he gets wound up like this. Both Slice and Dice prefer fleshy and aggressive themes to their tags and they love to put them up overtop of other writer's tags in turf that other crews want to claim as their own. If someone starts a fight with the Ring City Wreckers they're likely to find all their tags covered up by gross-looking Slice and Dice pieces, and if they want to try to catch them in the act and do something about it they gotta know they're fixing to jump a pair of Callistans with no known home address and a celestial love for getting their quills stuck into a good scrap. It's much less of a headache to be on good terms with the Wreckers than the alternative.

While Regina and Paulie are in school and the other Wreckers are working their day jobs, Zumiel and Zunara like to keep themselves busy "networking and building social connections," which is a fancy way of saying they crash their friends' places and just kinda hang out. The pair are pretty good friends with Min-Jeong, one of Titan's most infamous unlicensed cybernetic prosthesis mechanics. Min-Jeong has occasional trouble with former clients who are for whatever reason unhappy with the outcome of her handiwork, and usually guys like Puke Commander and his scuzcore band, The Pukes, will run interference for her, but Zumiel and Zunara are seemingly always available to dissuade the more persistent complaintants from escalating their tickets through more direct means, the knuckle-cracking kind. They're usually pretty good for surfacing odd bits of machine hardware the Wreckers might kick up in their new hideout, anything that looks useful or interesting they'll bring around to Min-Jeong to see if she can make something cool out of it. The three of them have become pretty chummy, frequently hanging around convenience stores or all-night diners together, just enjoying the vibes. As a result of these hang-outs, Min-Jeong has passed along a few job offers from Puke Commander to Zumiel and Zunara, and the Ring City Wreckers have been invited to paint up and decorate the stages for more than a few Pukes concerts. The jobs always come with free admission, in lieu of credits. That's networking in action, baby! Not everyone can pull off a deal like that, sometimes you just gotta have the royal touch.
